We are recruiting an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to take ownership of theatre operations across Robotics (Da Vinci), Gynaecology and Urology within a high-performing private perioperative service. This role is ideal for a confident, motivated senior nurse who enjoys leadership, autonomy, and shaping best practice at the point of care.
Working closely with the Perioperative Services Manager and supported by an on-site Nurse Educator, this position offers the opportunity to lead from the floor while contributing strategically to service performance and staff development.
About the Role
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and optimising theatre activity, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The role is structured as 60% clinical and 40% administrative , allowing you to remain hands-on while driving consistency and improvement across services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight and coordination of theatre lists across Robotics (Da Vinci), Gynaecology and Urology
- Acting as a senior clinical resource and scrub/scout expert across allocated specialties
- Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with surgeons and VMOs
- Supporting and training new staff, including clinical onboarding and competency development
- Conducting performance reviews and contributing to professional development planning for nursing staff
- Supporting efficient list management, utilisation, and workflow
- Working closely with the Perioperative Services Manager to support operational objectives
- Promoting best practice, quality improvement, and a positive team culture
This is a permanent, Monday–Friday role with no weekend work, offering excellent work-life balance.
What We’re Looking For
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Proven scrub/scout experience
across:
- Robotics (Da Vinci)
- Gynaecology
- Urology
- Demonstrated seniority within the perioperative setting (CNS / senior staff nurse / acting CNC)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, lead, and build trust
- Experience supporting staff education, clinical training, and performance management
- A proactive clinical leader who enjoys taking ownership of their specialty area
- Sound understanding of perioperative standards, safety and governance
