Are you a senior mental health or AOD nursing leader ready to take the next step into a Director-level role? We're partnering with The Melbourne Clinic to appoint their next Director of Nursing, a genuinely exciting opportunity to lead within a well-established, high-performing private hospital.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role within a highly structured, operationally strong environment. You'll lead a team of experienced Nurse Unit Managers, championing a proactive, structured, and quality-focused approach across the hospital. This role carries genuine influence over standards of care and patient outcomes, with quality and safety at its core.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to the nursing team, including a team of NUMs
- Build trust, structure, and a strong professional culture across nursing services
- Drive quality and safety outcomes, with quality reporting into this role
- Support and maintain strong relationships with VMOs and broader stakeholders
- Manage occupancy and labour targets in a fast-paced, high-occupancy environment
- Represent nursing at broader organisational leadership meetings
- Share on-call responsibilities within the leadership team
About You
- Significant experience in mental health and/or AOD nursing, with a strong understanding of how this operates within a private hospital setting
- A strong quality and safety background, with the ability to lead and embed change
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence across clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- A professional, culturally strong, and future-focused leadership style
- Candidates from ED, corrections, aged care, or large hospital coordination backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
- Must have clinical experience in mental health nursing OR leadership in mental health
