We’re looking for an experienced Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse to join a specialist private day hospital in Sydney’s North Shore suburbs, with a strong focus on ophthalmology.
This isn’t your typical hospital theatre where you’ll be jumping between every surgical specialty under the sun.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to really get to know ophthalmology — the procedures, the surgeons, the instruments and the little details that make a great theatre nurse.
T
he facility is purpose-built for specialist surgery, with multiple theatres and advanced ophthalmic technology, alongside ENT, facial and other surgical specialties.
What you'll be doing
This is a great opportunity for someone who already has ophthalmology experience and wants to be part of a team where that knowledge is genuinely valued.
You’ll be working across ophthalmic cases as part of an experienced perioperative team, with responsibility for both scrub and scout duties.
You’ll need to be comfortable with:
- Ophthalmology procedures (complex and non-complex) and specialist instrumentation
- Working closely with surgeons and anaesthetic teams
- Anticipating what’s needed throughout a case
- Maintaining high standards of patient safety and infection control
- Working efficiently in a busy day-surgery environment
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Solid Scrub/Scout experience
- Previous ophthalmology theatre experience – essential
- Confidence working independently while being part of a close-knit team
- A genuine interest in continuing to develop your ophthalmology expertise
If you enjoy the precision of ophthalmology, there’s something pretty satisfying about knowing your instruments, understanding the surgeon’s preferences and being one step ahead of what’s needed.
You’ll be joining an established private theatre team, with the stability of a permanent position and the opportunity to specialise in an area you already know.
